Our Spring Show is just around the corner!

Performances May 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, June 1, (2?) 3, and 4, 2017

The year is 1958, and the much-adored rock-and-roll idol -- Conrad Birdie

-- has been drafted into the US army. His songwriter and agent, Albert,

and Albert’s secretary and some-time girlfriend, Rosie, hatch a plan for a

farewell performance to take place on The Ed Sullivan Show, which they

hope will help sell Birdie’s new song “One Last Kiss,” and ultimately

save Almaelou records from going under. To cap off the performance,

Birdie will actually give ‘one last kiss’ to Kim MacAfee, an avid member

of the Conrad Birdie fan club from Sweet Apple, Ohio. Once everyone

arrives in Sweet Apple, well, things don’t go exactly as planned.

Great songs, dances, tons of characters. This is one of those shows that is

both incredible fun to watch and even greater fun to be in. Don’t miss it!

Exciting news for all YPTW Students:

***  YPTW Certificate Program!  ***

We have instituted a tiered certificate program for our students. The goal is to guide and encourage our young actors to take a broad range of classes and become complete theatre people.

You will be recognized for your work by earning Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificates. Once you have reached one of these levels, you will be honored at our year end cabaret. Your achievements will be recognized and celebrated in other ways, too. Make sure you receive your Student Handbook when you sign up for classes!

Welcome to YPTW's Webstage!!

Young People's Theate Workshop welcomes you to our little stage on the web. As we celebrate our 38th year of instruction in the dramatic arts, we thought you might want to learn alittle more about who we are. Here you will find information on our course offerings, upcoming shows and theatre camps. You will also find photos, alumni news and links to some of our favorite theatrical websites.

      Just Who Is YPTW Anyway???

YPTW’s mission statement:

Since opening its doors in 1978, Young People’s Theatre Workshop has provided high quality education in the theatre arts. Our staff of professional educators is dedicated to sharing their theatrical expertise in a safe, fun-filled yet challenging environment. Through our process centered approach, we teach the value of hard work, dedication, cooperation and respect. Our coursework, camps, workshops and full-scale theatrical productions provide our students with the experiences necessary to take the stage in theatre and in life.

Each Saturday, over 200 students enjoy classes at Young People's Theatre Workshop! The numbers have grown in the past thirty years. However, the goals of YPTW remain very much the same.YPTW offers a wide variety of classes including Mastering Monologues, Shakespearean Scenes, Broadway Repertoire, Musical Comedy, Broadway Dance, Tap Dance, Stage Make-up and Hair Design and Introduction to Theatre. Another tradition that has continued throughout our long history is the annual spring musical production on the main stage at the Players Club of Swarthmore. Every June, audiences enjoy a full-scale production with 80 -100 students, a live orchestra and magnificent sets and costumes.

YPTW classes are still held at The Players Club of Swarthmore but the Workshop's offerings now include an overnight camp at Eastern College in June, a summer day camp at Strath Haven Middle School and  a small musical workshop for students in grades 3-7 during the months of November and December.
